| News :: Sep 07 2008 8:43:47 pm - Login process | I made it so when you log in it does not do a DNS query each single time. This was bad coding on RunUO's part and was most likely the cause of the random freezes. (the DNS server has been acting up making queries slower) Now it queries the DNS server ONCE then caches the IP until server is restarted.
So "verifying account" should be much much faster now. Hopefully this also fixed the freeze issue. |  | |

| Event :: Sep 07 2008 3:11:30 pm - Another free arty! | A grim reaper's strike is hidden in a locked treasure chest somewhere in felucca. This time it can be in a non guarded area as well. It could be in a town or it could be in middle of nowhere.
Few hints:
1: It is visible to the eye if you go by it. You don't need to use ctrl+shift to try and find it.
2: If it rains it will get wet, unless the wind is strong and coming from west or south.
This may go on for a few days as its a harder one. |  | |

| News :: Sep 06 2008 7:13:43 pm - Update [Sept 06 08] - Harrower spawning | It is now possible to spawn more then one harrower at once. If you try to spawn a harrower when one is already spawnws, what will happen is the existing gate will be removed and replaced with new one, and the harrower will spawn in a different dungeon.
If by chance all dungeons are taken, it will not let you spawn until one becomes free. | | |

| News :: Aug 26 2008 6:58:09 pm - Update [August 27 08] - minor fixes | * Hiryu wrestling cap has now been set to 120. Existing ones will also be changed to 120. (this is the cap, not the actual skill)
* Gold machines have been renamed to Goldflinger, as it makes it more obvious of what it does
* Added kamas to blacksmithy menu as they were missing (Accidently removed during alphabetized ordering). Darkened sky and other kamas are now repairable | | |

| News :: Aug 22 2008 5:42:47 pm - [Aug 22 08] - TC1 Downtime Sometimes tonight | I am rebuilding my home server with all new parts but using a few parts from my current one so it will have to be shut down at some point. Also I will need to do some data transfer to reorganize data and what not.
In case you are using tc1.uovalor.com as the login server in razor please ensure it is actually login.uovalor.com. TC1 will be inaccessible but Live will be operating normally.
This upgrade may also help TC1 perform better, though the purpose behind it is so I can run more VMs for my own personal needs so it will probably come up to same thing as far as TC1 goes. | | |

The new counselor position will most likely be postponed, but feel free to send an application anyway if you are interested in the position. If it is postponed it will be reopened at that time. This all depends on if the people that quit come back or not. | | |

| News :: Aug 18 2008 11:18:32 pm - Daily automatic remote backups | This is something I should of done from day1 but did it manually.
AoV as well as all iceteks related sites now has daily automatic remote backups to my home server. This is done over a secure SSH connection.
I will let the entire job run tonight and see how it goes. Hopefully nothing goes screwy but it should be ok.
This job will backup the entire iceteks.com shared hosting space including this site, the aov linux portion of the server (hosts a few small pages like uocoders.com, DNS, mail, etc) and the AoV data itself as well. | | |
